Form in architecture is discussed typically as a question of function, tectonics or style. A systems approach to form making, however, is less concerned with the production of objects and more with relationships. Here, form is seen as an underlying configurational structure that favors certain connections and flows over others. This lecture will examine the agency of form in architecture and urbanism, how this becomes critical where the goal is to reconnect human-made and natural systems.

Dr. Nirmal Kishnani, PHD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Nirmal Kishnani is an Associate Professor with the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore, and is Programme Director of the Master of Science, Integrated Sustainable Design. He is also Editor-in-Chief of FuturArc magazine and resident jury chair of the FuturArc Prize and FuturArc Green Leadership Award. Since 2002, he has been an active part of the sustainability conversation in Asia, advising on projects and influencing policies that shape design practice. He is author of several books; his latest, Ecopuncture: Transforming Architecture and Urbanism in Asia,<\/em> offers a prism on systems thinking and regenerative design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
